Since the advent of the solid core, it would be fair to say that golf ball technology has had the single biggest impact on our games. Lower spin rates off the tee, combined with energetic core materials and clever aerodynamics, mean that they’re carrying further than ever before.

Doesn’t it make sense then, that we maximise that ‘hang time’, let the technology work its magic and take advantage of the extra metres? Of course, but how do we determine what that perfect trajectory is, and how do we generate it with consistency?

The two most obvious variables are swing speed and loft, but there’s more to this equasion; we also need to look at a third factor – your angle of attack. A golfer that delivers the clubhead to the ball on the upswing will create a higher launch angle than the golfer that delivers the clubhead to the ball at the bottom of the swing path.

Just look at this table and it will give you an idea of the importance of maintaining the perfect balance between the three variables:

OPTIMAL DRIVER LAUNCH PARAMETERS FOR MAXIMUM CARRY DISTANCE

To get the maximum yardage out of your swing we need to assess your swing speed AND your angle of attack. Then we can then show you what launch angle you should be aiming for and work out a plan to get you there.

It may mean more loft, a change of shaft or even something as simple as teeing the ball up higher or setting it up further forward in the stance. The options are almost endless, but we will find the right one for your game.

Are you being weighed down? Are your energy levels preventing you from playing your best? Here are three suggestions that should help:

TAKE A LOAD OFF

The mass of the golfer, and any belongings being carried, will determine how much energy is required to keep the ‘engine’ running through all 18 holes. The greater the weight, the worse the fuel consumption becomes. One source of weight that is easily reduced is the golf bag. Here, we have two options.

FILL UP THE FUEL STORES

As we deplete our fuel stores both our physical performance and mental focus begin to suffer. It stands to reason that we should start the round with a full tank, and keep it topped up. Slow energy releasing “Low GI” carbohydrates are the best option, but make sure you avoid the following glucose, High GI and sugar loaded treats.

STAY WELL HYDRATED

Water alone can’t replenish the natural salts and minerals that
are lost through hours of steady perspiration on the course. To make sure we don’t dehydrate (which in some cases can have all sorts of nasty side effects, such as cramps and nausea) keep those nutrient levels topped up with an isotonic sports energy drink.

WHAT DOES IT DO?

Provides accessible distance and accuracy by being easy to align, easy to adjust and easy to swing

HOW DOES IT DO IT?

Head design: The Rescue 11 incorporates a steel, pull-face construction to allow for a thinner clubface. This minimises weight and increases ball speed while the deeper face and lower CG provide easier launch conditions.

Flight Control Technology (FCT) allows you to adjust the face angle by 4° (+/- 2° left and right), adjust the loft by 2° (+/- 1° higher or lower), adjust the lie 2° (+/- 1° more upright or flat) and 1,000 RPM Spin Rate Change (+/- 500 RPM higher or lower spin rate)

Finish: The contrast between the white crown and black clubface makes it easy to align the Rescue 11 accurately at address. The matte white finish eliminates hot spots and glare to promote improved focus. The white head looks larger to promote more confidence and a fast, free swing speed.
