Story of the Month

As many of the Australia Golfing fraternity are already aware, Performance Golf recently conducted a very special event.

Just on 12 months ago the Performance Golf Group - 70 Golf Professionals across Australia - wanted to deliver a Golf Experience in a remote area of Australia. Alice Springs was selected as our destination with the objective to deliver Golf and a Golf Experience to 500 kids coming from the land as far as 1200km away. “Golf In The Alice” was launched by NRL legend and now media personality Peter Sterling.  The day was off to a great start with:

  • 1000 sets of golf clubs raised from Golf Club members across Australia
  • 20,0000 golf balls donated by Ken Trimble and the Concord Golf Club Members
  • 3000 grips donated by Golf Pride
  • 500 NIKE junior Shirts donated by NIKE
  • 500 pair sunglasses donated by Sundog

Acushnet was a major Sponsor of the Event

At the completion of the day we achieved our objective, delivering the ultimate experience to kids who had never been to a golf course, and most importantly delivering of FUN not just for 500 kids but also for 50 Performance Golf Coaches. The Performance Golf members filled with passion will not rest on their laurels; the event is just a stepping stone on where Performance Golf is taking Golf. In the pipeline we have

  • A scholarship program for remote kids in Australia to be released
  • Further remote programs throughout Australia in the immediate future
Performance Golf members feel as professional role models for the sport, that it is not only our role but our passion to continually grow this fantastic game.  With the launch of this event, Darren DeLacy General Manager of Performance Golf says “Golf Is Healthy and In Good Hands”.
